Diaper Disposal Systems. The International Trade Commission has instituted investigation 337-TA-986 to determine whether imports of diaper disposal systems and components thereof, including diaper refill cassettes, are violating Section 337 of the 1930 Tariff Act by reason of patent infringement. The products at issue are generally refill cassettes for diaper disposal systems that contain plastic film that ultimately forms disposal bags allowing soiled diapers to be disposed of hygienically.
Complainants Edgewell Personal Care Brands LLC and International Refills Company Ltd. request that after this investigation the ITC issue a limited exclusion order, which would direct U.S. Customs and Border Protection to prohibit the entry of infringing products into the U.S., and cease and desist orders, which would require the named respondents to cease actions that violate Section 337, including selling infringing imported articles out of U.S. inventory. The respondents in this investigation are located in China, Canada and the U.S.
Graphics Processing Chips. The ITC has extended to April 25 the target date for completing investigation 337-TA-941, in which certain graphics processing chips, systems on a chip and products containing the same have been found to infringe specified patents. The presiding administrative law judge has previously recommended that the ITC issue a limited exclusion order against some subject goods imported by the respondents and a cease and desist order against the respondents.
