Background

U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports that eligibility for preferential treatment under the Generalized System of Preferences has been suspended for certain articles of Ukraine that are entered or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption on or after April 26. A full list of affected articles can be found here. The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has said this action is a result of Ukraine’s “failure to provide adequate and effective protection of intellectual property rights despite years of encouragement and assistance from the U.S. government.”
