The Foreign-Trade Zones Board has received from the Port of Milwaukee, grantee of FTZ 41, a notification of proposed production activity at the AFE Inc. facility in Mount Pleasant, Wis. This facility would be used to produce whiteboard monitors/interactive displays and televisions with and without tuners. Comments on this notification are due no later than Jan. 29, 2018.

Production under FTZ procedures could exempt AFE from customs duty payments on the foreign-status components used in export production. On its domestic sales, for the specified foreign-status materials and components, AFE would be able to choose the duty rates that apply to whiteboard monitors/interactive displays, tuner-free televisions, and televisions with tuners (zero to 3.9 percent). AFE would also be able to avoid duty on foreign-status components that become scrap or waste and could defer or reduce duties on foreign-status production equipment.
