Background

Packaging. The Foreign-Trade Zones Board has authorized production under zone procedures at the Amcor Flexibles LLC facility in Shelbyville, Ky., which will be used to produce, warehouse, and distribute flexible packaging used in pharmaceutical, food, home, and personal care products. The Board did not authorize activity with respect to the foreign-status component identified as “aluminum/plastic tear strip” due to insufficient information.

Consumer Electronics. The FTZ Board has authorized an expansion of production under zone procedures at the Apple Inc. facility within subzone 221A in Mesa, Ariz. Apple already had authority to produce certain components for consumer electronics within this facility and the Board has now added finished products and foreign status materials/components to the scope of authority.

Fabric Cover Stock. The FTZ Board has authorized production under zone procedures at the CGT U.S. Ltd. facility within FTZ 80 in New Braunfels, Texas, which is used for the production of PVC-coated upholstery fabric cover stock. This authorization is subject to a requirement that foreign-status polyester and poly-cotton knit fabrics be admitted to the subzone in privileged foreign status.

Insulin. The FTZ has authorized an expansion of production under zone procedures at the MannKind Corporation facility within subzone 76B in Danbury, Conn. MannKind already has authority to use this facility for the production of an inhalable insulin made by a combination of imported fumaryl diketopiperazone and domestic material active ingredients and the Board has now added a finished product to the scope of authority.

Outdoor Power Products. The FTZ Board has authorized an expansion of production under zone procedures at the STIHL Incorporated facilities within subzone 20E in Virginia Beach, Va. STIHL already had authority to produce outdoor power products at this facility and the Board has now added an additional foreign status component to the scope of authority. This authorization is subject to a requirement that foreign-status lithium ion batteries be admitted to the subzone in privileged foreign status.
