Oil/Gas Equipment. The Foreign-Trade Zones Board has approved an expansion of production under zone procedures at the Bauer Manufacturing Inc. facility within FTZ 84 in Conroe, Texas. Bauer already had authority to produce pile drivers and leads, boring machinery, foundation construction equipment, foundation casings, related parts and sub-assemblies, and tools and accessories for pile drivers and boring machinery within site 1 of FTZ 265, and the FTZ Board has now added new finished products (stationary oil/gas drilling rigs and related subassemblies) and foreign-status materials and components to the scope of authority. This approval is subject to a restriction requiring that foreign status textile-based cotton transport straps (classified under HTSUS subheading 5806.31) be admitted to the zone in privileged foreign status, thereby precluding inverted tariff benefits on such items.
Semiconductors. The FTZ Board has received from Samsung Austin Semiconductor LLC, operator of subzone 183B, a notification of proposed production activity for its facility in Austin, Texas. Samsung already has authority to produce semiconductor memory devices for export at this facility, and the current request would add foreign-status hexamethyldisilazane to the scope of authority. Comments are due no later than Feb. 8, 2016.
New Jersey Subzone. The FTZ Board has approved the establishment of subzone 142D at the Nine West Holdings Inc. facility in West Deptford, N.J.
