President Trump has announced his intention to nominate Gregory Doud as chief agricultural negotiator within the Office of the U.S. Trade representative. Doud has been president of the Commodity Markets Council since 2013, spent eight years as the chief economist for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, and has worked for U.S. Wheat Associates. He also served as a professional staff member of the Senate Agriculture Committee for senators Pat Roberts (the current committee chairman) and Thad Cochran, where he assisted in drafting the 2012 Senate farm bill along with legislation on many other issues.
