Exemption Petition Partially Granted

The Federal Maritime Commission issued an order Dec. 20 partially granting a petition for exemption filed by the World Shipping Council seeking regulatory relief from 46 U.S.C. 40502(b) and (d). The order grants an exemption from the requirement to publish the essential terms of service contracts and denies a requested exemption from the requirement to file service contracts with the Commission.

New Maritime Agreement Filed

The FMC has issued notice that the following agreement has been filed. Interested parties may submit comments by Jan. 13.

The TradeLens Agreement. The agreement authorizes the parties to cooperate with respect to the provision of data to a blockchain-enabled, global trade digitized solution that will enable shippers, authorities, and other stakeholders to exchange information on supply chain events and documents.
