A U.S. man has been sentenced to a $50,000 fine, 46 months in prison, and three years of supervised release in connection with exports of radiation hardened integrated circuits to China and Russia, the Department of Justice reports. RHICs have military and space applications and their export is strictly controlled. According to the DOJ, the man falsely certified to U.S. suppliers that his company was the end-user of the RHICs, falsely declared them as touch screen parts on export documentation, and shipped them overseas without the required export licenses.
