Background

The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued an order suspending for ten years the export privileges of a man convicted of knowingly and willfully attempting to export thermal clip-on night vision devices to Russia without obtaining an export license. This man was previously sentenced to 39 months’ imprisonment, three years of supervised release, 150 hours of community service, a $2,500 criminal fine and a $200 assessment.

As a result, until May 7, 2025, neither this man nor anyone on his behalf may directly or indirectly participate in any way in any transaction involving any commodity, software or technology exported or to be exported from the U.S. that is subject to the Export Administration Regulations. BIS is also revoking all export licenses in which this man had an interest at the time of his conviction.
