The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued an order suspending for 20 years the export privileges of a Turkish man charged with aiding in the export of a Boeing 747 aircraft to Iran. The company of which this man was CEO informed Turkish authorities that this aircraft would be de-registered in Turkey and subsequently re-registered in Pakistan but then transferred physical possession and control to Iran Air at a time when there was a temporary denial order in place against both companies concerning this particular aircraft.
Under this order, until March 23, 2035, neither this man nor anyone on his behalf may directly or indirectly participate in any way in any transaction involving any commodity, software or technology exported or to be exported from the U.S. that is subject to the Export Administration Regulations. BIS is also assessing a $50,000 civil penalty against this man.
