President Trump announced March 30 his intent to nominate Mira Ricardel to head the Bureau of Industry and Security as under secretary of commerce for export administration. According to a press release from the White House, Ricardel has had an extensive career in the national security arena in both the public and private sectors. Within the Department of Defense she held the positions of principal deputy assistant secretary for international security policy and deputy assistant secretary for Eurasia and was awarded the DoD Medal for Distinguished Public Service. She also served as legislative assistant for arms control and foreign policy to Senator Bob Dole, R-Kan. From 2006 to 2015 she held senior leadership positions within Boeing Defense Space and Security, most recently vice president, international business development, network and space systems, where she led the business unit’s marketing and growth strategies for international markets.
