The Bureau of Industry and Security’s Emerging Technology and Research Advisory Committee will hold a partially open meeting March 12 in Washington, D.C., This committee advises BIS on emerging technology and research activities, including those related to deemed exports.

The agenda for the open session of the upcoming meeting includes a report on the conference of the Association of University Export Control Officials, a presentation by an official from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, an update on Wassenaar deliberations, an update on Cuba, discussion of the harmonization of the definition of fundamental research, and a report on ECCN review.

The open session will be accessible via teleconference to 20 participants on a first come, first served basis. To participate in this manner, submit inquiries to BIS no later than March 5. In addition, a limited number of seats will be available at the public session, but reservations are not accepted.
