Supply Chain Competitiveness. The Department of Commerce’s Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness will hold open meetings April 17 and 18 in Louisville, Ky. This committee advises DOC on the necessary elements of a comprehensive policy approach to supply chain competitiveness and on regulatory policies and programs and investment priorities that affect the competitiveness of U.S. supply chains.

At the upcoming meeting committee members are expected to continue to discuss the major competitiveness-related topics raised at previous meetings, including trade and competitiveness, freight movement and policy, trade innovation, regulatory issues, finance and infrastructure, and workforce development. Comments for consideration at this meeting are due by April 10.

Export Privileges Suspended. The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued an order suspending for ten years the export privileges of an individual convicted of knowingly and willfully exporting to Mexico without the required State Department licenses .223 caliber rifles designated as defense articles on the U.S. Munitions List. The man was previously sentenced to 46 months in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $200 assessment.

As a result, until Nov. 28, 2027, neither this man nor anyone on his behalf may directly or indirectly participate in any way in any transaction involving any commodity, software, or technology exported or to be exported from the U.S. that is subject to the Export Administration Regulations. BIS is also revoking all export licenses in which this man had an interest at the time of his conviction.

Sensors Export Meeting. The Bureau of Industry and Security’s Sensors and Instrumentation Technical Advisory Committee will hold a partially open meeting April 30 in Washington, D.C. This committee advises BIS on technical questions that affect the level of export controls applicable to sensors and instrumentation equipment and technology. The open session of the meeting will include remarks from BIS management and industry presentations.
