Airline Penalized for Anti-Boycott Violations
The Bureau of Industry and Security reports that a foreign airline has agreed to a $700,000 civil penalty ($100,000 of which has been suspended) to settle allegations that it violated the anti-boycott regulations. If this penalty is not paid within 75 days BIS may suspend the airline’s export privileges for one year.
A BIS order states that on 14 occasions, in connection with the sale and/or transfer of goods or services from the U.S. to the United Kingdom, the airline refused to do business with a national or resident of a boycotted country pursuant to an agreement with, a requirement of, or a request from or on behalf of a boycotting country.

Quarterly Update on Foreign Cheese Subsidies
The International Trade Administration has issued its quarterly update to the list of foreign government subsidies on articles of cheese subject to an in-quota rate of duty. This list, which covers articles of cheese imported during the period April 1 through June 30, 2019, lists the subsidy program(s) and the gross and net amounts of each subsidy for which information is currently available. This list includes subsidy programs implemented by the European Union, Canada, Norway, and Switzerland but indicates that during the period at issue the only program actually in effect was export assistance on certain types of cheese by Canada.
