The Drug Enforcement Administration has announced that the effective date of its final rule requiring the electronic submission through the Automated Commercial Environment of required data for the import and export of tableting and encapsulating machines, controlled substances, and listed chemicals has been delayed from Jan. 30 to March 21. In addition, compliance with this rule is now not required until 180 days after Jan. 30 (approximately July 30).
The DEA states that these delays will allow officials an opportunity to review any potential questions of fact, law, and policy raised by this regulation, consistent with a Jan. 20 White House memorandum directing a 60-day delay in the effective date of all regulations that had been published in the Federal Register but were not yet effective as of Jan. 20.
