The Consumer Product Safety Commission is seeking comments on the proposed extension of information collections associated with the following.

Conformity Assessment Bodies. The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 requires testing to be conducted by a third-party conformity assessment body for any children’s product that is subject to a children’s product safety rule before that product may be imported for consumption, warehousing or distribution in commerce. To assess a third-party conformity assessment body’s qualifications for acceptance, the CPSC uses an online form, CPSC Form 223, to gather information related to location, accreditation and ownership. This form is also used to collect information (a) whenever there is a change to accreditation or ownership information and (b) at least every two years as part of a regular audit process. Comments are due by April 12.

Garage Door Operators. Manufacturers, importers and private labelers must establish and maintain records to demonstrate compliance with the requirements for testing to support certification of compliance with the safety standard for automatic residential garage door operators Comments are due by March 17.
