Background

Last month the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a rule clarifying when component part testing can be used in third-party testing of children’s products and which textile products have been determined not to exceed the allowable lead content limits. The CPSC is now extending from Nov. 13 to Dec. 14 the deadline for submitting significant adverse comment on this rule. The CPSC is also extending from Dec. 14 to Jan. 13 the date on which this rule will become effective unless significant adverse comment is received. If such comment is received by that date the CPSC will withdraw the rule before its effective date and address the comments received in a later final rule that will be based on a proposed rule the CPSC has issued concurrently with the direct final rule (and for which the comment period is also being extended to Dec. 14).
