The Department of Homeland Security has issued a final rule adjusting the civil monetary penalties assessed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection for the violations listed below. These changes will be effective for penalties assessed after April 5 whose associated violations occurred after Nov. 2, 2015.

- dealing in or using empty stamped imported liquor containers: $531 (up from $518)

- employing a vessel in a trade without a required certificate of documentation: $1,329 (up from $1,296)

- transporting passengers coastwise for hire by certain vessels (known as Bowaters vessels) that do not meet specific conditions: $531 (up from $518)

- transporting passengers between coastwise points in the U.S. by a non-coastwise qualified vessel: $798 (up from $778)
