U.S. Customs and Border Protection is accepting comments through Oct. 10 on the proposed extension of CBP Form 26, Report of Diversion. This form is initiated by the vessel owner or agent to notify and request approval from CBP for (1) a vessel to divert while traveling coastwise from one U.S. port to another or (2) a vessel traveling to a foreign port having to divert to a U.S. port when a change occurs in the vessel itinerary. This form collects information such as the name and nationality of the vessel, the expected port and date of arrival, and information about any related penalty cases, if applicable.
