Background

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced an expansion of the Global Entry international trusted traveler program, which allows pre-approved, low-risk participants expedited entry into the United States using kiosks at designated airports, to include all British citizens with a valid United Kingdom passport documenting their British citizenship. Certain British citizens were already eligible to apply for participation in the Global Entry program under a 2013 pilot program. CBP has decided to conclude the pilot and open the program to all British citizens. In addition, CBP has announced that certain U.S. citizens may apply for membership in Registered Traveller, the UK’s trusted traveler program.
