Background

The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued separate orders denying for periods ranging from five to ten years the export privileges of five individuals, located in the U.S. or Mexico, who have been convicted of various violations.

One individual was convicted of knowingly, fraudulently, and intentionally exporting and unlawfully sending from the U.S., and attempting to export and send from the U.S., 50 rifle magazines and two boxes of ammunition in violation of 18 U.S.C. 554. Four other individuals were convicted of knowingly and willfully attempting to export from the U.S. to Mexico various articles designated as defense articles on the U.S. Munitions List without the required U.S. Department of State licenses. These individuals received prison sentences ranging from six to 60 months and two were also placed on the State Department’s debarred list.

Under these orders, neither of these individuals nor anyone acting on their behalf may directly or indirectly participate in any way in any transaction involving any commodity, software, or technology exported or to be exported from the U.S. that is subject to the EAR.
