The International Trade Commission is inviting public input as part of its preparation of a biennial report on the economic impact of the Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act that will cover the years 2019 and 2020. Requests to appear at the June 8 public hearing are due by May 18, pre-hearing briefs must be submitted by May 25, and post-hearing briefs and all other written submissions are due by June 22. The ITC plans to transmit its report to Congress and the president by Sept. 30.
This report will examine the actual and probable future effects of CBERA on the U.S. economy generally as well as on those specific domestic industries that produce articles that are like, or directly competitive with, articles being imported into the U.S. from CBERA beneficiary countries, which are: Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Curaçao, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.
