Background

The Department of Agriculture and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative are accepting through Nov. 13 applications for new members to serve on agricultural trade advisory committees covering the following commodities.

- animals and animal products

- fruits and vegetables

- grains, feed, oilseeds, and planting seeds

- processed foods

- sweeteners and sweetener products

- tobacco, cotton, and peanuts

Members of these committees provide technical advice and guidance on international trade issues that affect both domestic and foreign production in these sectors.

New members are also being sought for the Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee, which advises USDA and USTR on operating existing U.S. trade agreements, negotiating new agreements, and other trade policy matters.

Applicants must have significant expertise in both agriculture and international trade matters. They must be U.S. citizens, qualify for a security clearance, and be willing to serve without compensation for time, travel, or expenses.
