WILLIAM J. MALONEY is a Senior Member of Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A. His practice is focused on all aspects of customs and international trade law, including tariff classification, duty rates, valuation, penalties, U.S. Customs audits, seizures and detentions, country of origin criteria, product labeling and invoice requirements. Mr. Maloney represents clients in a variety of industries, including footwear, apparel, medical devices, chemicals, toys, electronics and food, and he regularly assists companies in developing internal compliance programs.

Mr. Maloney has extensive experience advising clients on the use of USMCA and other free trade agreements, bonded warehouses, foreign trade zones, first sale valuation and duty drawback. He is also an experienced litigator and has represented clients in matters connected with tariff classification; antidumping and countervailing duty laws; and patent and trademark actions involving imports under Section 337.

Mr. Maloney began his career in customs and international trade as an import specialist with the United States Customs Service in Boston, where he served as district textile fraud coordinator and as a member of the Northeast Region Intelligence Unit.

Mr. Maloney received a B.S. in Economics from Boston College. He holds a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. He is a member of the Bars of the State of New York, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of International Trade, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is a member of several trade and professional organizations and has served on the Board of Directors of the Customs and International Trade Bar Association (CITBA).
