LEONARD L. ROSENBERG is a senior counsel to the firm of Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., resident in the Miami office. He is also a member of the Firm's Operating Committee. He is well-known for advising importers on how to structure their transactions to minimize duty consequences and penalty liability. He has lectured throughout Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States on customs matters.
Before joining the Firm, Mr. Rosenberg served as a senior attorney for the U.S. Customs Service. During his tenure at Customs headquarters, he was responsible for preparing rulings and interpreting the valuation and penalty laws enforced by Customs.
Mr. Rosenberg holds a J.D. (with honors) from the National Law Center at The George Washington University and a B.A. from Queens College. He is a member of the bar in Florida, Maryland and the District of Columbia. He has served as chairman of the Florida Bar’s International Law Section, editor of the Florida Bar’s International Law Quarterly, and president of the Customs Lawyers Association. He is currently counsel to the Florida Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association, a trustee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Board of Advisors for the Center for Transnational and Comparative Studies at Florida International University. He is a past recipient of the Secretary of the Treasury Award for Outstanding Service.
