Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Department of Energy has issued a final rule adopting new energy conservation standards for walk-in cooler and freezer refrigeration systems, which include low-temperature dedicated condensing systems and both medium- and low-temperature unit coolers. The DOE concluded that these standards represent the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible and economically justified and would result in the significant conservation of energy. This rule is effective as of Sept. 8 but the standards will only apply to covered goods manufactured in, or imported into, the U.S. on or after July 10, 2020.
