Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is requesting comments no later than April 4 on the proposed extension of information collections associated with imports of used farm equipment. APHIS regulations prohibit such imports from regions where foot-and-mouth disease or rinderpest are considered to exist unless the equipment has been steam-cleaned prior to export so that it is free of exposed dirt and other particulate matter. Such equipment must be accompanied by an original certificate, signed by an authorized official of the national animal health service of the exporting region, stating that such treatment was completed.
