Transport of Dangerous Goods to be Focus of Two DOT Meetings
The Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration will host a public meeting Nov. 14 in Washington, D.C., to gather public input on current proposals and discuss potential new work items for inclusion in the agenda of the 52nd session of the United Nations Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods. The UNSCOE TDG will meet in Geneva Nov. 27-Dec. 6 to consider proposals for the 21st revised edition of the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods Model Regulations, which may be implemented into relevant domestic, regional, and international regulations from Jan. 1, 2021. General topics on the agenda for that meeting include explosives and related matters; listing, classification, and packing; electric storage systems; and transport of gases.
A second meeting to be held Nov. 14 will discuss proposals in preparation for the 34th session of the United Nations Sub-Committee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, which will be held in Geneva Dec. 6-8.
