Safeguard Effect on Domestic Washer Industry is Focus of New ITC Investigation

The International Trade Commission has instituted an investigation of developments in the domestic industry following the January 2018 imposition of tariff-rate quotas on large residential washers, covered parts, and exempt parts that will extend through Feb. 7, 2021. This investigation will cover the progress and specific efforts made by workers and firms in the domestic industry to make a positive adjustment to import competition. Those wishing to participate as parties in this investigation must notify the ITC by March 14.

The ITC will hold a public hearing in connection with this investigation June 25. Requests to appear at this hearing are due by June 1 and those desiring to appear should attend a pre-hearing conference June 21. Pre-hearing briefs are due by June 14 and post-hearing briefs and other written submissions are due by July 2. The ITC’s report to the president is due by Aug. 7.
