CBP Instructions on One-Month Extension of 2017 Raw Sugar TRQ

Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports that the 2017 raw sugar tariff-rate quota and use of the 2017 certificate of quota eligibility have been extended until Oct. 31, which will cause an overlap with the 2018 raw sugar TRQ that begins Oct. 1. To ensure accurate reporting, beginning Oct. 2 filers must transmit HTSUS 9903.17.33 combined with HTSUS 1701.13.1000 or 1701.14.1000 to report entries for the 2017 TRQ. As of Oct. 31, HTSUS 9903.17.33 will no longer be valid and may not be used.

CBP states that the 2018 raw sugar TRQ entries will be handled via the normal procedure and will continue to be processed until the quota limits are exhausted or the period expires.
