Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has determined that the Italian regions of Lombardia, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Piemonte and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano are free of swine vesicular disease and that the importation of pork or pork products from these areas presents a low risk of introducing SVD into the U.S. products. As a result, effective May 28, fresh pork and pork products may be imported from these regions under certain conditions.
