USDA Moves Toward Lifting Restrictions on Imports of Pork from Japan

The Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is proposing to recognize Japan as free of swine vesicular disease and classical swine fever. These changes would lift restrictions on the importation of swine, pork, and pork products from Japan. Comments on this proposal and an associated risk evaluation are due by March 22.
