Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has determined that Japan is free of swine vesicular disease and classical swine fever and that the surveillance, prevention, and control measures implemented by Japan are sufficient to minimize the likelihood of introducing these diseases into the U.S. via imports of species or products susceptible to these diseases. As a result, effective July 9 APHIS will lift related restrictions on the importation of swine, pork, and pork products from Japan.
