Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service has made available an interim instruction document that explains the current regulatory requirements for certification and documentation needed to import organic products into the U.S. as well as the responsibilities of USDA-accredited organic certifying agents in reviewing or issuing import-related documents. This document also recommends best practices that such certifiers may use to comply with the regulations. AMS invites importers, organic handlers, certifying agents, consumers, and other interested parties to submit comments on the recommended best practices by Dec. 26.
