Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Foreign-Trade Zones Board has received a request to establish a new FTZ in Lufkin, Texas, under the alternative site framework. Comments are due no later than Nov. 13.

The proposed zone would be the fourth for the Port Arthur-Beaumont U.S. Customs and Border Protection port of entry, following FTZs 115 in Beaumont, 116 in Port Arthur, and 117 in Orange. While the application notes that several firms have indicated an interest in using zone procedures in the Lufkin area, no specific production approvals are being sought at this time.
