Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Department of Commerce’s National Marine Fisheries Service is accepting comments through March 27 on a petition for an emergency ban on imports of all fish and fish products caught in set nets or trawls inside the range of the Māui dolphin and from either the west coast of New Zealand's North Island or the Cook Strait unless such products are affirmatively identified as having been caught (a) with a gear type other than set nets or trawls or (b) outside the Māui dolphin's range. The petition identifies 11 fish species harvested within this range by set nets, trawls, or gillnets that are potentially imported into the U.S. as fish or fish products.
