Energy Labeling Requirements for Some Appliances Would be Updated Under FTC Proposal
The Federal Trade Commission is proposing to amend the Energy Labeling Rule by updating ranges of comparability and unit energy cost figures on EnergyGuide labels for dishwashers, furnaces, room air conditioners, and pool heaters. Manufacturers would have to begin using this new information on product labels within 90 days after publication of a final rule.
The FTC is also proposing to set Oct. 1, 2018, as the compliance date for previously announced changes to EnergyGuide labels for room air conditioners.
Comments on this proposal must be received by Dec. 4.
