Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Department of Energy is adopting new energy conservation standards for miscellaneous refrigeration products after having concluded that these standards represent the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible and economically justified and would result in significant conservation of energy. This direct final rule will be effective as of Feb. 27, 2017 (unless adverse comments are received by Feb. 17) but compliance will only be required for covered products manufactured in or imported into the U.S. on and after Oct. 28, 2019.

Miscellaneous refrigeration products include coolers (e.g., wine chillers) and combination cooler-refrigeration products (e.g., wine chillers combined with a refrigerator, freezer, or refrigerator-freezer).
