Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

E-writers. In patent infringement investigation 337-TA-1035 of liquid crystal e-writers and components thereof, the International Trade Commission has terminated the last remaining respondent based on Kent Displays Inc.’s withdrawal of its complaint.

However, the ITC is also requesting comments by July 10 on the following with respect to a previously defaulted respondent: the form of remedy, if any, that should be ordered (i.e., an exclusion order and/or a cease and desist order); the effects of any such remedy on the public health and welfare, competitive conditions in the U.S. economy, U.S. production of like or directly competitive articles, or U.S. consumers; and the amount of the bond under which infringing articles could continue entering the U.S. during the 60-day period the president has to review any ITC-ordered remedy.

Hybrid Electric Vehicles. The ITC has terminated patent infringement investigation 337-TA-1042 of hybrid electric vehicles and components thereof with respect to one patent and claims of three additional patents asserted by complainants Paice LLC and Abell Foundation Inc.
