Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced the hours of operation and modes of commercial traffic it will process at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas, for June 20-25.

Imports from Mexico will be processed on weekdays from 7 a.m. to midnight or beyond until the last queued truck is processed, on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or beyond until the last queued truck is processed, and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or beyond until the last queued truck is processed. Imports via the following modes of commercial traffic will be processed: empties (tractors and trailers), Free and Secure Trade-certified companies, informal entries, agriculture (perishables), automotive products, Food and Drug Administration-regulated products (FDA will monitor these shipments electronically and place holds as deemed necessary to coordinate further inspection), and machinery.

CBP emphasizes that only the commodities identified above are able to use World Trade Bridge at this time and that it will return trucks carrying other commodities to Mexico and direct them to the Colombia Solidarity Bridge.

Exports to Mexico via all modes of commercial traffic will be processed on weekdays from 7 a.m. to midnight or beyond until the last queued truck is processed, on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or beyond until the last queued truck is processed, and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or beyond until the last queued truck is processed

CBP states that progress continues on the establishment of temporary office facilities in modular buildings at the World Trade Bridge and that the tentative start date for these facilities is July 5. FDA personnel will work alongside CBP officers and import specialists when these modular buildings come online.

In the meantime, the FDA is still operating under the business resumption plan. FDA staff at the Colombia Solidarity Bridge port of entry are conducting import lot dock inspections from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and on holidays and FDA staff at the Juarez Lincoln Bridge II office are conducting field exams at warehouses from 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
