The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Airport and Seaport Inspections User Fee Advisory Committee will hold a teleconference Aug. 29 that is open to the public. The UFAC is tasked with providing advice on matters related to the performance of airport and seaport inspections coinciding with the assessment of an agriculture, customs or immigration user fee.

During the upcoming meeting the UFAC will create two new subcommittees. The Financial Assessment and Options Subcommittee will be responsible for providing an overview of current worldwide user fees being paid by industry, mapping how industry collects and transmits user fees to CBP, and discussing the option of a third-party study that would improve the committee’s and CBP’s understanding of the universe of CBP’s budget, costs and funding sources. The Processes Subcommittee will be responsible for developing advice that would enhance CBP operational efficiencies.

Those wishing to participate in this teleconference must provide their full name, e-mail address and phone number no later than Aug. 26 via email, by phone at 202-344-1440, or online. Written comments are also due by Aug. 26.
