CBP’s Commercial Targeting and Analysis Center Adds TTB

U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Sept. 19 the addition of the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to the Commercial Targeting and Analysis Center. Thomas Crone, TTB assistant administrator for field operations, said this change should help the agency ensure the integrity of imported alcohol products.

The CTAC is a federal enforcement partnership established in 2010 that currently comprises the following agencies: CBP, TTB, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Fish and Wildlife Service, the Food and Drug Administration, the Food Safety and Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the National Marine Fisheries Service, and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.

CTAC participants work to increase compliance with federal standards and regulations by targeting, interdicting, and investigating the importation, exportation, and trafficking of hazardous or illegal shipments. CBP states that CTAC collaboration enhances interagency information sharing, reduces redundancies, and streamlines inspections and processing at ports of entry.
