Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

Effective May 15, the Department of Transportation has suspended all foreign air transportation for cargo or passengers to or from any airport in Venezuela. This action follows a determination by the Department of Homeland Security that conditions in Venezuela threaten the safety and security of passengers, aircraft, and crew. According to DHS, that determination is based on several factors, including reports of civil unrest and violence in and around airports in Venezuela, the cancellation of flights by three air carriers, the suspension of U.S. embassy operations, and the risk of regime actions against U.S. citizens and interests in Venezuela.
