Zone Reorganization. The Foreign-Trade Zones Board has received an application from the TexAmericas Center, grantee of FTZ 258, requesting authority to reorganize this zone under the alternative site framework, which can permit significantly greater flexibility in the designation of new subzones or usage-driven FTZ sites for operators and users located within a grantee’s service area in the context of the standard 2,000-acre activation limit for a zone. The current zone includes two sites and the proposed service area would be a portion of Bowie County, Texas, adjacent to the Shreveport-Bossier City U.S. Customs and Border Protection port of entry. Comments on this application are due no later than Aug. 28.

Phone/Tablet Kitting Facility. The FTZ Board has approved production under zone procedures at the Samsung Electronics America Inc. facility in Coppell, Texas, which is used for the warehousing, distribution and kitting of mobile phones and tablet computers.
