Chicago businesswoman Penny Pritzker was sworn in as commerce secretary June 26 a day after being confirmed by the full Senate by a 97-1 vote. Pritzker will oversee a department that includes the International Trade Administration, which handles issues ranging from trade missions to textile policy to antidumping and countervailing duties, and the Bureau of Industry and Security, which is engaged in an effort to overhaul U.S. export controls. She replaces Acting Secretary Rebecca Blank, who left the administration earlier this year to head the University of Wisconsin and who herself replaced John Bryson in 2012 after he resigned for medical reasons.
