FTZ Board Considers Production Requests, Approves New Subzones

The Foreign-Trade Zones Board has received from the Greater Detroit Foreign-Trade Zone Inc., grantee of FTZ 70, a notification of proposed production activity at the Fluid Equipment Development Company LLC facility in Monroe, Mich., which is used for the production of energy recovery turbines and centrifugal pumps used in water  desalination. Comments are due no later than Jan. 16.

In addition, the FTZ Board has approved the following.

- an expansion of production authority at the Tesla Inc. facilities in Palo Alto and Fremont, Calif., which already had authority to produce electric vehicles and components, to add one foreign-status material or component

- the establishment of subzone 294A at the Mayfield Consumer Products facilities within FTZ 294 in Mayfield and Hickory, Ky., which are used for the production of candles

- the establishment of subzone 114G at the Winpak Heat Seal Corporation facility in Pekin, Ill.
