The Federal Maritime Commission is proposing to amend its rules governing the service of private party complaints and the filing of documents containing confidential material. According to the FMC, this rule instructs parties on how to request confidential treatment of their documents and how to mark confidential material, clarifies that the FMC will use U.S. mail or express mail to serve the complaint, and clarifies the time an answer to the complaint is due. This rule will become effective June 24 unless significant adverse comments are filed prior to May 26.
