President Trump has announced his intention to nominate Jeffrey Kessler as assistant secretary of commerce for enforcement and compliance.  Kessler is currently a counsel in the international trade group of a U.S. law firm, where he has represented U.S. manufacturers in domestic trade remedy proceedings and advises U.S. companies and industry associations on trade, investment, and market access barriers imposed by China. According to a White House fact sheet, he has also been involved in litigating World Trade Organization disputes, successfully challenging foreign country practices that restrict international trade and defending U.S. trade practices.
