Export Agency Leaders Confirmed
Mira Ricardel was confirmed by the Senate Aug. 3 as under secretary of commerce for export administration, where she will lead the Bureau of Industry and Security. Earlier in her career Ricardel served in the Department of Defense as principal deputy assistant secretary for international security policy and deputy assistant secretary for Eurasia. She also served as legislative assistant for arms control and foreign policy to Sen. Bob Dole, R-Kan. From 2006 to 2015 she held senior leadership positions within Boeing Defense Space and Security, most recently vice president, international business development, network and space systems, where she led the business unit’s marketing and growth strategies for international markets.
The Senate also confirmed Aug. 3 Richard Ashooh as assistant secretary of commerce for export administration. Ashooh worked for more than two decades as a senior executive in the aerospace industry, where according to a White House statement “his primary focus was ensuring the success of programs that protect United States and allied warfighters, particularly in the electronic warfare space.” He has also held senior positions in corporate strategy, homeland security, and public affairs.
