IPR Enforcement: Sweeteners, Computing/Graphics Systems, Beverage Capsules

Sweeteners. The International Trade Commission has instituted investigation 337-TA-1030 to determine whether imports of certain high-potency sweeteners, processes for making the same and products containing the same are violating Section 337 of the 1930 Tariff Act by reason of patent infringement. The products at issue are sweeteners for human consumption such as acesulfame potassium sweeteners. Complainants Celanese International Corporation, Celanese Sales U.S. Ltd. and Celanese IP Hungary Bt request that after this investigation the ITC issue a general exclusion order or, alternately, a limited exclusion order, as well as cease and desist orders. The three respondents in this investigation are located in China.

Computing/Graphics Systems. In patent infringement investigation 337-TA-984 of certain computing or graphics systems, components thereof and vehicles containing the same, the ITC has decided not to review initial determinations by the presiding administrative law judge terminating this investigation as to the remaining respondents.

Beverage Capsules. In patent infringement investigation 337-TA-929 of beverage brewing capsules, components thereof and products containing the same, the ITC has instituted a rescission proceeding related to the March 17, 2016, limited exclusion order and cease and desist order on these products.
